On Friday Facebook launched the Poke app for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
What is a poke? How do I poke someone?
When you poke someone, they'll receive a poke alert on their home page. The poke feature can be used for a variety of things on Facebook. For instance, you can poke your friends to say hello.
What happens when I poke someone?
When you poke someone, they'll see the
icon along with your name on their homepage. The person you poke may also receive a notification

Can I get a poke back after I remove it?
Once you remove a poke from your home page, you can't get it back. But, you can still poke back. Removing a poke also allows the other person to poke you again.

You can only poke a confirmed friend, someone that is in a shared network, or a friend of a friend.

Regular Facebook users might remember Poke is a popular feature on the site which lets people, well, ‘poke’ each other.
Facebook lets users send pokes, video, pictures and text messages to their friends.
The catch is that the message can last for only one second to a maximum of 10 seconds.

Also it seems that the message can be only 120 characters long. When you’re sending a message you will see the amount of time on the top centre of your message. Click on it to choose how much time you want the message to last.
